Bahamian Graycliff Cigars
Introduces New Bahiba Premium Brand
By Jay Amberg
Bloomberg Lifestyles
Nassau, Bahamas, Aug. 17
-- Graycliff cigars, a premium
brand manufactured in the Bahamas by former Cuban cigar maker
Avelino Lara, is introducing its new Bahiba brand of premium
cigars for the fall.
Lara, former cigar maker
for Cuban President Fidel Castro
and godfather of Cuba's benchmark Cohiba brand, will manufacture
the Bahiba at Graycliff's small factory in the Bahamas.
Graycliff cigars are named
after the famous and luxurious
Graycliff Inn on West Hill Street, Nassau, Bahamas. The inn is
know for its world-renowned five star restaurant, a 175,000 bottle
wine cellar and a superb selection of Cuban and its own Graycliff
brand of cigars.
Inn owner Enrico Gazaroli,
a connoisseur of fine cigars,
lured Lara from Cuba after Lara's tenure at Havana's El Laguito
cigar factory was over.
The new Bahiba cigars will
come in four sizes: double
corona, corona, double robusto and pyramid. The cigars are expected
to sell for less than the Graycliff brand, which average about
$20 each.
